The Rise of Trae Stout: From Braxton County, WV to his First Pro Title Fight

"Lights out" Trae Stout will be fighting Saturday, June 1st at the Braxton County Armory in his first title fight as a professional. Stout is excited to get this opportunity in a place he's so familiar with. "This title fight is a great test for me, especially being in my hometown. My father, my brother, and I all played basketball growing up in this exact building. There's no better, or more special place for my first title fight than the Armory."

Big Talent, Small Town

In the heart of West Virginia lies the small, unassuming town of Frametown. Known for its tight-knit community and scenic beauty, Braxton County might seem an unlikely birthplace for a professional boxing contender. His Secret Weapon: Family

Trae Stout's love for boxing is growing much like his record. Growing up in Braxton County, he was surrounded by a family that valued hard work and perseverance. His parents are instrumental in Stout's success as they provide a rare support group of morals and values through Christianity that most fighters don't have. His father, Chris, is a preacher and pillar of the community. Early on Trae was a talented athlete who spent a lot of time on the basketball courts. Like everything he does he was a natural. From the moment he put on his first pair of boxing gloves, it was clear that Trae had found his calling. The local boxing gym became his second home, and under the mentorship of seasoned trainers, Trae honed his skills, learning the nuances of the sport that would soon become his life’s mission. His family's unwavering support has been with him every step of the way.

Early Amateur Days

Trae's amateur career was marked by relentless dedication and impressive achievements. Competing in local and regional tournaments, he quickly gained a reputation for his long reach, powerful punches and strategic prowess. His discipline both in and out of the ring caught the attention of many, leading him to accumulate an impressive amateur record. The support from his hometown was unwavering, and with each victory, Trae carried the pride of Braxton County on his shoulders.

Turning Professional

Transitioning from amateur to professional boxing was a significant step for Trae. He faced new challenges, tougher opponents, and higher stakes. However, Trae's unwavering commitment to his craft propelled him forward. His early professional bouts showcased his remarkable talent, and he began to climb the ranks rapidly. Each fight was a stepping stone, bringing him closer to his ultimate goal: a shot at a championship title. We asked the talented young pro what was the biggest change he's had to make going from amateur boxing to pro boxing and he answered, "When I fought as an amateur I only trained hard when I had a fight scheduled. I would spend most of the camp, which was 4-6 weeks, getting in shape. That cost me a lot of time and preparation. Now as a pro I stay in shape so that I can use my time in camp to prepare more for my opponent."

Team Effort

Trae's journey to his first championship title fight was not without its obstacles. Injuries, setbacks, and a tough loss tested his resolve. But with each setback came a comeback, stronger and more determined. Trae's ability to learn from his experiences and adapt his strategies made him a formidable opponent in the ring. His training regimen, supported by a dedicated team, was rigorous and unrelenting. "My coach and teammates are family now. I moved away from my home to train with these guys. My teammates keep me going. Hearl Collins, Zach Randolph, Dakota Linger, and Dillion Murphy were once my friends, but they're family now. They have taken me under their wings, they push me, and I know no matter what I have going on they will be there for me." It was this support group and perseverance that earned him a spot in this coveted championship title fight.

When Trae Stout steps into the ring for his first championship title fight, the culmination of years of hard work, sacrifice, and determination will be palpable. The roar of the crowd, a mix of Braxton County supporters and boxing enthusiasts, will echo the significance of this moment. Trae's performance in the ring must be nothing short of extraordinary. His agility, power, and strategic brilliance will be on full display, earning him the respect of both fans and critics alike. Stout is confident going into the fight and a big reason why is his coach: "I'm more confident in my abilities now than ever before. I always feel like I have an edge just knowing my coach, Tim Wheeler, is in my corner. He's been like a second father to me inside and outside the ring. He's made me confident that I'm one of the top guys in the state, and the region."
